Working outside in a different country doesn't mean you are betraying your country. Anyone can still contribute to their country although being outside. It depends on how one sees it.
Work after all is self-beneficial. To earn money for life in this world of capitalism. If one wants to be patriotic, of course, direct and selfless contribution can be done locally back in motherland but working hard, diligently and honestly outside is good enough and will reflect a good image of people from our country and that itself is an indirect contribution to our country. These indirect contributions will lead good foreign investments to the country in the future if everyone keeps their eye in performing well in no matter what line they maybe in.
Regarding whether the wage is higher in Japan or not, I think it is based on the standard of living in each country. In Japan, they've always tried to give out a standard wage for a standard living even for janitors. Lately, the situation has change and the working poor is becoming an issue. In Malaysia, I guess we pay the professional too much and pay the so-called non-professional too little, perhaps. Not been in Malaysia for many years but I guess that should be the case in developed countries. We can already see the difference in our education system. Going to Art stream is like such a "bad" thing and that itself portrays how our country is and how that leads to the employment system in Malaysia and also the current wage system in different lines.
Nothing changes overnight. Everyone must start to learn to respect one another and those manipulated should learn to voice out as well.
